Avondale Memorial Seventh-day Adventist Church

Children - Some dates are old

At AMC we encourage children to participate in our intergenerational church service which commences at 10.50am every Sabbath morning. Children are encouraged to be involved in the singing, praying and reading of scripture. We include a special segment where they can listen to a story appropriate to their age. Children who are learning an instrument or have some other talent are encouraged to contact the Children's Ministries team if they have something special to share with their church family at worship.

  • Children's Church- November 10, 2012.  These programs are interactive and engaging; they incorporate music, drama, and storytelling.  Essentially presented by children for children.

  • Children's Social Night - September 15, 2012. Please read the bulletin for further details as we get closer to this date.

  • Fun 4 Kids playgroup - Come and join us for a morning of craft, singing, stories, games and other activities with your 0 - 6 year old child/children.  Meet other parents/carers in a relaxed and friendly environment.  As part of their experience, kids are encouraged to exhibit basic Christian values.  Fun 4 Kids meets in the Fellowship Hall, below the main church, on Wednesday mornings between 9.30am - 11.30am (during school term).

Children's Sabbath School

AMC caters for children each week by providing Sabbath School classes for several age groups:

  • Teens (12-15 yrs)
  • Junior (Grades 5-6)
  • Primary (Grades 2-4)
  • Early Primary (Grades Kindy-1)
  • Pre-School (4-5 yrs)
  • Toddlers (2-4 yrs)
  • Beginners (0-2 yrs)

Classes begin at 9:30am every Saturday morning, and include sing-a-long songs, crafts, quizzes, games and Bible stories.
Children are invited to join their parents during the church service where there will be a children's story for them.

AMC's Pathfinder program exposes its members to many different activities and challenges throughout the year.  It is a place where children have the opportunity of mixing with others in a Christian environment.  Pathfinder activities include: completing Honours and Crafts, going on Campouts, Conference Expeditions, Camporees, and the Pathfinder Fair.   In addition, there are community service opportunities, such as Red Cross and ADRA Appeals, and the ANZAC Day March.  Emphasis is also given to God's handbooks - the Bible and Nature, and Pathfinders are encouraged to get to know God better and commit their lives to Him.

Pathfinders is a program similar to Scouts, designed for for 10-16-year-olds to develop important life values such as teamwork, commitment and self-respect.  Guided by qualified and committed leaders, members participate in a range of activities, including -

  • Abseiling
  • Canoeing
  • Camping and hiking
  • Crafts

Honour badges are earned by completing requirements on specific topics in the areas of nature, craft and recreation.  At the end of each year Pathfinder clubs present awards for achievement of various skills.

AMC has a large Adventurers club for children under 10 years.  Its programs, activities, and awards are equivalent to that of Pathfinders, though tailored to the younger age-group.  Moreover, it serves as a precursor to the latter.

Adventurers meet monthly at the church on Saturday afternoons.  They also run games nights, excursions, sporting days, and camps.
